Regardless of your age, proper snacking can prove extremely beneficial for your health. It prevents over eating big meals, while keeping the nutrient quotient intact. In fact, it eases hunger pangs between breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables usually make for great healthy food. But it might get monotonous after a while. 

So, here are some fun yet nutritious snack recipes to maintain a healthy lifestyle, while cutting down on boredom. 

Granola Bars

These soft and chewy bars are delicious and fulfilling. A healthy granola bar recipe includes infusing your favorite fruits, chocolates and nuts together. A few common ingredients are chocolate chips and whole pistachios and almonds. You can also experiment with brown sugar, peanut butter and honey. Aim for a toasted flavor, with a crunchy exterior, for superior taste. Store the granola bars in airtight containers to keep them fresh for longer.

SabudanaVada

If you are on a gluten free diet, sabudanavadas could be ideal for you. These are scrumptious and do not require any exotic ingredients. All you need are sabudana (tapioca pearls), roasted peanuts, potatoes, coriander and cumin and oil to deep fry. Make sure the nuts are well ground for a smooth texture. This is one of the most fabulous homemade foods and can be prepared in less than an hour.

Ragi Pancakes

The goodness of ragi is unmatched, due to the high nutrient content. Whole wheat flour, whole ragi, loads of vegetables, garlic, chilies and oil go into the making of this delicious snack. It does not contain maida, which makes it safe for heart patients too. Soak the ragi properly, grease the tawa well and pour enough batter to perfectthis vegan pancake.

Potato Cheese Balls


Cheese balls are crispy, flavorful and popular among children and adults alike. You can pan fry, deep fry or even bake them, as per your preference. The usual ingredients are potatoes, garlic paste, cheese, crushed pepper, bread crumbs and fresh herbs. To make it more healthy, use poha powder instead of bread crumbs. Make sure the potatoes are not too soggy and the cheese is cut into half inch cubes. 

Spring Rolls 

Crispy and flaky spring rolls, coupled with a hot cup of tea, on a rainy day has a huge fan base in India. To prepare the rolls, shredded cabbage and carrots, cooked noodles, soy sauce, crushed pepper and olive oil are all you need. To make it more Indian style, use paneer as a main filling. Ensure the oil has been heated well, the rolls are being stirred properly and enough stuffing is being used. Having an eye for detail can help you prepare delicious spring rolls in no time. 

Other delicious snacks are harabhara kebabs, alootikki, bread pakoda and cutlets. These are easy to make and can keep you filling full for long.
